I’m raising funds in memory for Asthma Australia
Our annual Matty34 Memorial Round returns on Sunday 26 July 2026, proudly supporting Asthma Australia in memory of our beloved son, Matty, who tragically lost his life to an asthma attack.
What began as a way to honour Matty's memory has grown into something truly extraordinary.
Over the years, Matty's legacy has helped raise more than $58,000 to support asthma research and provide vital support for people affected by asthma.
Together, We Have Made an Extraordinary Impact
In 2026, we are aiming even higher. Our goal is to lift our total to an incredible $68,000, which means raising more than $10,000 this year.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue this important work and ensures Matty’s legacy lives on in a powerful and positive way. Your support helps Asthma Australia work towards a future where fewer families experience the heartbreak of losing someone they love to asthma.

Why We Fundraise
Matty had severe asthma all his life, but he knew his triggers. He frequently took himself to hospital when he experienced a serious asthma attack, and he always had his medication with him. For the most part, he managed his asthma well.
Asthma didn't stop Matty from doing the things he loved. As a boy, he was a champion athlete, and as an adult he was a passionate baseball player, rock climber and golfer. He loved to travel and meet new people and never let asthma slow him down.
But on an extra crisp morning in April, while driving to work, Matty suffered a severe asthma attack. By the time paramedics arrived, he had gone into cardiac arrest. He was placed on life support before I arrived at the hospital.
The doctors told me that after completing a series of tests, Matt's brain showed no signs of activity and that there was no hope of recovery.
I faced an agonising decision. As we sat beside him, I knew it was time to let him go. I couldn't believe my eyes. He looked perfect. He was a beautiful young man whose life had been cut tragically short by the insidious disease of asthma.
