About Us
The Asthma Huff & Puff is Australia’s only dedicated event supporting people with asthma.
The inaugural event kicks off 1-10 September and encourages Australians everywhere to get breathless for asthma and people with asthma to recruit their communities to participate and experience, even just for a moment, what it’s like for people with asthma. As the old saying goes, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone and for people with asthma, the simple act of breathing isn’t easy to do.
We educate our Huff & Puffers with the latest asthma information and help to bring more awareness to the seriousness of asthma. Asthma is a respiratory condition that affects over 2.8 million Australians, with children being the most impacted. Asthma is responsible for at least one Australian death every day and around 100 hospitalisations every day, making it a serious health concern. Over 80% of these hospitalisations are considered potentially avoidable.
The Asthma Huff & Puff is run by Asthma Australia, a small charity committed to:
- reducing asthma deaths,
- helping people with asthma to breathe better and live freely and
- standing up for people with asthma in government policies and the community.
Huff & Puffers can fundraise for Asthma Australia as part of The Asthma Huff & Puff to help keep support programs and services available to the asthma community at no cost.
